Research and Design for Publication of Development of Guidelines for Industrial Design Studio Culture
The studio is a very special environment to all designers. Reflecting on the written studio statement that is required for architecture accreditation, CADC faculty member Benjamin Bush began to be curious as to what values the industrial design studio should champion. With funding from a CADC Seed Grant, Bush visited 20 design studios and talked with 24 design professionals in San Francisco, New York, and Boston with the purpose of developing a series of guidelines that will be implemented in the Spring 2020 design studio. Bush said, “Each workplace has a culture, good or bad. In order to maximize the industrial design studio culture, I feel that it is necessary to implement best practices and have a mutual understanding of the values and expectations of the industrial design profession.”
Benjamin Bush is Assistant Professor of Industrial Design in the School of Graphic and Industrial Design.
