Master of Landscape Architecture Program Granted Re-accreditation

The Master of Landscape Architecture program in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture has been granted re-accreditation for a six-year period by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board. The LAAB based its re-accreditation decision on the MLA’s program self-evaluation report, the visiting team report, the institution’s response to the team report, and discussions with team members and program faculty. This status is subject to review of annual reports and maintenance of good standing through December 31, 2021. Auburn’s MLA program is the only accredited Master of Landscape Architecture program in the State of Alabama.

“The recent re-accreditation of our MLA program is a continued affirmation of the stature of this program—the program faculty, students, alumni, and community and industry partners are to be commended for their focus, passion, and dedication,” says Vini Nathan, Dean and McWhorter Endowed Chair in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. “I look forward to supporting the next higher threshold of the Landscape Program.”

The Auburn University Master of Landscape Architecture prepares students for careers as creative and adaptive landscape architects. All the components of the MLA program are therefore designed to teach and model emerging real world conditions. The MLA program treats the issues facing the world—resource depletion, climate change, urbanization, water shortages and desertification, energy crises, sea-level rise, and suburbanization—as design problems that are investigated through the work students do in studios, seminars, workshops and lectures.
