Bob Aderholdt Endowed Professorship

ABOUT THE DONOR

The idea to create this endowed professorship in honor of Dr. Bob Aderholdt, or Dr. Bob as he was affectionately known, was a group effort between current Building Science faculty, former Aderholdt students and construction industry executives.

Dr. Aderholdt was born on July 31, 1941, in Jacksonville, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1966, and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1969. He received his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1973. Bob retired from teaching in 2007 before passing away at the age of 65 on May 3, 2007.

Dr. Aderholdt taught in the Auburn building construction program for 27 years. Of his many contributions, Dr. Aderholdt was instrumental in the creation of the Construction Industry Fund which provides financial funding to construction education at Auburn through professional fees. The fund pass in the Alabama House of Representatives in 1991 and has been a valuable resource in maintaining the Auburn Building Science program’s status as one of the elite in the nation.
