CADC Spring 2021 Commencement Marshal: Emily Sykes
Senior Emily Sykes will serve as the College of Architecture, Design & Construction (CADC) marshal at Auburn University’s 2021 spring commencement. Originally from Birmingham, Sykes will graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design.
Sykes is a fifth generation graduate; her parents, maternal grandparents, great-grandmother and great-great aunt and uncles all attended Auburn, as did as her sister and several other family members. She was recently named the winner of University Writing’s ePortfolio competition, competing against finalists from other schools and majors across campus. She has been a CADC Ambassador for the past two years, serving as the group’s Graphic Design major captain, and has also worked for CADC Communications. “Emily has been a standout CADC Ambassador, giving countless tours to students and representing our college with the upmost poise and the best attitude,” said CADC Recruitment Administrator Katherine Buck Chastain. “The CADC Recruitment and Communication teams are better for having Emily serve with us!” She has also been involved with First Presbyterian Church of Auburn’s UKirk Campus Ministry during her time at Auburn.
Sykes is currently an intern at the startup tech company Hardly and will move to Columbus, Ohio, to work there full-time as a graphic designer after graduation. She will have a diverse range of duties, including branding, advertising, UI/UX and packaging for software and hardware products.
