SIGD Names Wei Wang as New School Head

The College of Architecture, Design and Construction (CADC) would like to congratulate and introduce Wei Wang as the new Head of the School of Industrial and Graphic Design (SIGD). Wang will start in his new role at Auburn University on August 1, 2023.

Professor Wang taught graphic design at Auburn from 1999 until 2021 when he was named Director of the Ullman School of Design at the University of Cincinnati. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from Shenzhen University, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Utah State University, a Master of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Louisiana Tech University and a Ph.D. in Consumer and Design Sciences from Auburn.

Wang has been teaching and practicing visual communication design for over 23 years. His areas of research include brand strategy and management, user-centered design, UI/UX design, data visualization, experimental behavioral research and design collaboration and innovation. “I am honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Auburn and join the CADC leadership team,” Wang stated. “I look forward to working alongside all faculty, staff, students and alumni of SIGD to elevate our school’s identity, visibility and reputation to the next level.”

CADC Acting Dean Karen Rogers says “I am delighted that Professor Wang will be joining the leadership team at the CADC. His considerable professional knowledge and skills and his extensive experience as an educator make him uniquely prepared to take on this role. Welcome back to Auburn, Wei!”
