National
BSCI graduate and undergraduate students work across the U.S. in areas impacted by natural or civil disasters. These Service Learning opportunities are often in partnership with well-established non-profit organizations involved in disaster recovery programming. Depending on the many variables after such disasters, the students engage in a mixture of short-term relief efforts and contribute to the long-term recovery for various homeowners. Some examples of the scopes performed by our students to date include roof tarping, debris cleanup, demolition, muck out, temporary framing repairs, interior finish repair work and making other modifications to the impacted homes.
