Auburn’s student chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) was recently awarded the National Chapter of the Year.

The organization was recognized as the 2025 Outstanding Student Chapter in Impact, a distinction that reflects the chapter’s comprehensive approach to leadership development, industry engagement and community service. The award was presented during AGC’s annual conference in Orlando with a video commemorating Auburn’s investment in the future of construction professionals.

With a membership of 225 students in the McWhorter School of Building Science (BSCI), the chapter operates through a highly structured leadership model that mirrors a professional construction company, providing students with meaningful, real-world experience while ensuring continuity and long-term success.

The chapter’s impact is evident in its wide range of programming. From community service initiatives in Tuskegee and ongoing work at Chewacla State Park to professional development workshops and industry-led Lunch & Learns, Auburn AGC consistently creates opportunities for students to grow both technically and professionally. Signature events like the Moe’s Social, which connects approximately 100 students with industry representatives ahead of the Building Science Career Fair, demonstrate the chapter’s ability to foster genuine relationships that often lead directly to internships and job offers.

A key factor in Auburn’s success is its strong partnership with Alabama AGC, which provides financial support, mentorship and access to industry leaders. This collaboration allows students to engage with professionals at every level—from local chapter meetings to national conferences—positioning them as active contributors to the construction industry.

Ultimately, Auburn’s AGC Student Chapter earned the Impact Award not only for the scale of its efforts, but for the intentionality behind them.

“The Impact Award reflects our chapter’s commitment to serving students by creating opportunities to impact the community, build meaningful industry connections and grow as leaders,” said BSCI student and AGC Chapter President Ben DeBoer. “It has been an honor to lead an organization that strives to make a lasting impact in everything we do.”
