Fall 2022: ARM Roof
Alabama Rural Ministries, an outreach program of the Methodist Church that focuses on home repair, asked students to complete two different roof repair projects. One team fixed the roof on Ms. Jones’ house in southern Lee County near Beauregard. They demolished and replaced weak portions of the roof and then provided new decking, waterproofing and metal roofing. They also repaired and replaced the fascia and made improvements to the front porch before filling Ms. Jones’ flower bed with beautiful low-maintenance plants. Mrs. White’s house in Loachapoka also had a roof in very poor condition with a honeybee hive in the front gable soffit. After a professional beekeeper removed the hive, students installed a new Galvalume metal roof over her entire roof and repaired and painted the damaged fascia, soffit and siding.
