Sproull Named New ENVD Program Chair

Associate Professor Robert Sproull has been named the Environmental Design Program Chair in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (APLA).

He will succeed Associate Professor of Industrial Design Christopher Arnold. In his new role, Sproull will provide leadership for the program, overseeing curriculum review, academic standards and student recruitment.

“The Environmental Design program continues to develop a strong reputation as an agile design studies program with both talented faculty and students recognized nationally,” said Justin Miller, APLA School Head. “We are excited for Associate Professor Sproull to continue to advance the work alongside others in the program.”

Sproull has over 15 years of design, construction and engineering experience on a range of award-winning projects. Much of his professional focus has been on large scale cultural buildings that he completed while working with the Renzo Piano Building Workshop. In addition to focusing on buildings, Sproull has designed much larger planning projects in the U.S. and South America including the Parque Bicentenario in Quito, Ecuador. Sproull holds a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Auburn University and a master’s degree in architecture from Rice University.
