Meet Avery Dove ’18: SIGD Advisory Council Member
Avery Dove, a 2018 graduate of Auburn’s School of Industrial and Graphic Design (SIGD), wants to put progress in motion for SIGD.
For Dove, a Fayette, Alabama-native and, artistry is a family tapestry.
“I’ve always been an artist at heart, starting my art journey at the early age of two,” says Dove. “My mother and grandfather are artists, which inspired my love for art and led me to design.”
One month after graduating Auburn with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, Dove began his role as a Graphic Designer/Motion Designer at Montgomery-based Copperwing Design, where he’s been ever since.
Dove’s projects have included developing characters that connect with children, including the creation of a coloring book for the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries and a school mascot for Alabama Christian Academy.
His goal as a member of the SIGD Advisory Council is to make Auburn Graphic Design more visible to those outside of the program, from high school students to other current Auburn students.
“It feels like we’re a best kept secret,” he said.
Dove’s top moments at Auburn run the gamut from sports to his senior show.
“When it comes to my time at Auburn, my favorite overall memory is the Kick Six, during my first year,” he said. “But my favorite moment from my time in the program is my senior show. I was excited to see what my cohort had been working on—we were a close-knit group, and everyone was incredibly talented.”
Dove even put his mark on Auburn by working with Stamp, a locally owned and operated customer screen printing and retail business, to sell a line of t-shirts featuring Aubie in dynamic, sports-themed designs.
From his early days as an artist to his role as a designer and now an advocate for SIGD, Dove continues to channel his creativity and passion into making a lasting impact on SIGD and the future of Auburn Graphic Design.
