Kelly Homan is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Design in the Auburn University School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, where she teaches foundational design courses and leads the program’s Ecologies Unit. Her research investigates landscape-scale conservation design, species driven urbanism, and the documentation and design of landscapes that support vulnerable plant species. Working at the intersection of ecology and design, she explores how creative practice can contribute to biodiversity conservation and foster more sustainable relationships between people and other species. Through both her research and teaching, she encourages students to approach design as a means of engaging ecological complexity and creating landscapes that support coexistence across species.
