Meet Zach Hobbs ‘02: SIGD Advisory Council Member
Zach Hobbs, a 2002 graduate of Auburn University’s School of Industrial and Graphic Design (SIGD), brings a wealth of experience in the field of design.
Hobbs has spent the last decade of his career with IDEO, a global design and innovation company, and currently serves as a Communication Design Director.
At IDEO, Hobbs has spearheaded transformative projects, from rebranding humanitarian organizations to revolutionizing fan experiences for professional sports teams. His ability to merge a maker’s ethos with hands-on experimentation has led to groundbreaking solutions that resonate with audiences on a profound level. Whether it’s igniting a culture of creativity within a global pharmaceutical company or shaping the visual brand of Dubai’s innovation hub, Hobbs’ work exemplifies the power of design to foster connection and drive meaningful change.
He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions across the United States and throughout Europe, including the Elmhurst Art Museum, South Dakota State University, the University of Alabama, the University of Maryland Art Gallery and BBDB Studio in Italy.
Having served as a speaker at CADC’s second annual Day of Design in 2022, Hobbs is no stranger to service to SIGD. His goals as a member of the council include championing creativity as a practice, fostering mentorship and preparing students to navigate life and employment as a creative professional. Hobbs hopes to leverage his keen interest in storytelling and hand-made techniques to inspire students to cultivate a deeper connection to the creative process.
Hobbs began his four-year term as a member of the SIGD Advisory Council on Jan. 1, 2024.
