Industrial Design Students Create New Concept Playground
Tin Man Lau’s spring 2014 fourth-year studio collaborated with PlayCore to evaluate an existing playground system, spot all perceivable problems, and then design a new and improved system. Seven fourth-year students and four graduate students developed multiple configurations for different size parks. The playground above is located in Freedom Park, a 98-scre “Central Park” in Charlotte, North Carolina. This new concept playground system collaboration was the seventh time in ten years that Industrial Design has worked with PlayCore, a company that specializes in play solutions for a community’s needs. They are looking forward to collaborating again in spring 2015.
