Grad Marshal Cameron Westbrook Represents CADC

On December 16, 2017, our next group of graduates will take their places at Auburn’s Fall commencement ceremony. Representing the CADC as Graduation Marshal for Fall 2017 will be Environmental Design student Cameron Westbrook. Cameron has been an exceptional CADC student ambassador and an active leader of the Environmental Design Program student organization. He graduates with a nearly perfect GPA and recently received the 2017 CADC Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award for Environmental Design. His intellectual curiosity, hard work, and collegiality have contributed to his focused efforts to improve the quality of our built environment, whether in the academic arena or through one of the many jobs he has held in order to support his studies. His design and writing skills have earned him university-wide recognition, and his research for bicycle urbanism will serve as the foundation for his post-graduate studies. After graduation, Cameron will remain in Auburn in the spring to work for the university, and following that, he will explore avenues for moving to Sweden to continue his design education and work toward a professional degree.”

Cameron initially chose to study Environmental Design because he found the exposure to a number of design dsiciplnes that the program offers very compelling. He discovered his passion for urban design and bicycle infrastructure through this exposure to several different disciplines. “Studying in Copenhagen, Denmark this past summer was an incredible and formative experience that I will never forget,” says Cameron. “I am so grateful to Magdalena Garmaz [Chair of the Environmental Design program] and all of the inspiring professors I’ve been lucky enough to study with these past few years.”

Cameron has made an equally inspiring impression on his professors. “From day one, it was evident that Cameron was a team and class leader,” says Professor Jerrod Windham. “He possesses an inquisitive passion and an aptitude for collaboration that will be an asset to those he will work with in the future.”
