Finkel and Windham Win in 2023 Graphis Design Competition

Congratulations are in order for faculty members Robert Finkel and Courtney Windham of Auburn’s School of Industrial and Graphic Design (SIGD). Finkel and Windham both took home awards in the 2023 Graphis Design Competition.

Windham, Associate Professor of Graphic Design, won a Silver Award in the “Print Education” category for her work on the Rural Studio Identity Design and Style Guide booklet, an interdisciplinary collaboration between Rural Studio, the College of Architecture, Design and Construction and the College of Liberal Arts. Windham also received an Honorable Mention in the “Video Education” category for her design of an animated poster that promoted the Graphic Design Juried Student Show. The poster was viewed first as a printed poster on the wall and then seen animated through an augmented reality app called Artivive.

Finkel, the Graphic Design Program Chair, won a Silver Award in the “Print Books” category for his design work on “The IBM Poster Program: Visual Memoranda,” a book he published with Industrial Design faculty member Shea Tillman. Their book tells the story of the design team behind IBM’s striking internal corporate communications and shares illustrations of their work.
