The  24-hour design challenge will be led by David Oakey of David Oakey Designs\, a world leader in sustainable design  and consultant to Interface Carpet. INDD students will work through a 24 hour charrette to come up with solutions  that will be presented and judged on Friday\, 20 March\, by the SIGD Advisory Council. A Wallace Lawn Cookout will  accompany presentations and judging.

Heymann is Harwell Hamilton Harris Regents Professor in Architecture and Teaching Professor at the University of Texas Austin. His lecture\, “An Un-flushable Urinal: The Aesthetic Potential of Sustainability\,” will be in Dudley B6 auditorium and is free and open to the public. The APLA lecture series is supported by practicing architects\, planners and landscape architects in the State of Alabama.

DESCRIPTION:The School of Architecture\, Planning and Landscape Architecture Fall 2015–Spring 2016 Lecture series\, “on the BRINK: beyond which success or catastrophe occurs” continues on Monday\, October 26 with a free\, public lecture by Guy Nordenson titled “Reading Structures.” Nordenson is Professor of Architecture and Structural Engineering at the Princeton University School of Architecture and is principal of the structural engineering practice\, Guy Nordenson and Associates\, in New York City\, NY. The practice focuses on a number of on-going collaborations with architects. Recently completed projects include Kimbell Art Museum Expansion in Fort Worth\, TX with Renzo Piano Building Workshop\, the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York with SANAA and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Expansion in Kansas City\, MO with Steven Holl Architects among others. Nordenson”s lecture will be in B6 auditorium in Dudley Commons at 4:00 p.m. The APLA lecture series is supported by practicing architects\, planners and landscape architects in the State of Alabama. DESCRIPTION:The Auburn University Chapter of The American Institute of Architecture Students is hosting its 27th Annual Pumpkin Carve on Friday\, October 30\, in the newly renovated and re-designed Dudley Courtyard. Pumpkin Carve began as a studio project twenty-seven years ago and has now turned into one of the most celebrated events within the School of Architecture\, Planning and Landscape Architecture at Auburn University. Architecture students invite all students\, as well as community members of all ages\, to gather in the courtyard of Dudley Hall to carve pumpkins. Carving begins at 9 a.m. The pumpkins will be illuminated and judging will begin at 6:00 p.m. \n  \nWatch the live stream. \n  \nSchedule \n9am – Carving Begins \n11:30am – Lunch \n6pm – Pumpkins Lit + Judging Begins \n7pm – Pumpkin Carving\, Silent Auction\, Costume Contest\, + Raffle Winners Announced \n8pm – Auction of Pumpkins \n  \nALL DAY EVENTS \n“Costume Contest” – College students\, kids\, faculty\, and visitors are encouraged to come carve a pumpkin in their Halloween costumes. Upon arrival\, costume contest participants can take a picture in front of a designated wall. All the photos will be judged and winners will be announced at 7pm *Winners must be present to receive prize* \n  \n“Aubie!” – Aubie will be in attendance at various times throughout the day \n  \n“Refreshments” – Though hot dogs and hamburgers will be served at lunch\, CADC Organizations will be selling snacks\, treats\, and beverages all day long \n  \nIn regards to parking\, after 5pm\, visitors can park in the South Quad Parking Deck on Lem Morrison Dr. and Duncan Dr.
