DESCRIPTION:This week-long program is designed to begin with basic concepts and conclude with several architectural design projects. These projects allow the students to display the information they have learned throughout the week. This is a highly intensive and exciting workshop where students receive vast amounts of hands-on experience. While working each day in the Auburn University School of Architecture\, Planning and Landscape Architecture studios\, students engage and learn from the university”s highly-qualified professors with the opportunity for individual guidance as well. \nProgram faculty consists of dedicated and caring Auburn faculty members who hold degrees in Architecture\, Landscape Architecture\, and the Fine Arts. The faculty’s diverse background will ensure students receive a broad perspective of the different aspects of design. There will also be camp counselors present at all times with the students to ensure safety and supervision. In addition to their work in the studio\, students will experience campus-life on the plains. From residing in resident dormitories and dining at on-campus facilities to enjoying evening social and recreational activities\, the students will receive a memorable experience and great opportunity that they will cherish. Camp participants will experience campus-life while residing in Auburn’s resident dormitories\, eating at campus dining facilities\, and enjoying evening social and recreational activities. DESCRIPTION:The School of Architecture\, Planning and Landscape Architecture will host an alumni reunion for all landscape architecture graduates on the weekend of April 14–15. The reunion activities will include a lecture by Jack Williams\, Emeritus Professor of Landscape Architecture\, on Friday\, April 14\, 2017. \nWilliams\, who was Professor and Chair of the Landscape Architecture and Urban Design program in the College of Architecture Design and Construction from 1992–2008\, will present “Miniatures of Abnegation—The idea of the American Small Town in Literature\, Images and Places\,” at 3:30 pm in Dudley B6 Auditorium. Afterwards\, he will be signing his book\, Easy On\, Easy Off: The Urban Pathology of American Small Towns (University of Virginia Press\, 2016)\, which received the J.B. SUMMARY:Interior Architecture 90_20 Anniversary Celebration on March 31\, 2017
DESCRIPTION:Ninety years ago\, one of the first interior design programs in the United States was created within Alabama Polytechnic Institute”s School of Architecture and Applied Arts. Twenty years ago\, that program was renamed Interior Architecture to better reflect its evolution into a unique\, dual-degree program in Auburn University”s College of Architecture\, Design and Construction. On March 31\, 2017\, CADC and the School of Architecture\, Planning and Landscape Architecture will celebrate this 90_20 Anniversary. \n  \nThe 90_20 Anniversary Celebration begins in the morning with tours of Dudley Hall and an exhibition of student work and includes lunch. Her research and practice investigates the relationship between architecture\, interiors\, clothing and objects\, resulting in works that take on an experimental nature. She is the editor of Toward a New Interior: An Anthology of Interior Design Theory\, and co-editor of After Taste: Expanded Practice in Interior Design with Kent Kleinman and Joanna Merwood-Salisbury\, both published by Princeton Architectural Press. She is Editor of the journal\, Interiors: Design/Architecture/Culture published by Taylor & Francis. Previously she was Director of the Interior Design Program at Parsons The New School for Design and Graduate Advisor for the Master of Interior Design Program at The University of Texas at Austin. She studied architecture at Cranbrook Academy of Art and the Rhode Island School of Design. \n  \n3:00 pm Bobby McAlpine lecture \nDudley Common Parker Auditorium B6 \n  \nBobby McAlpine is a 1981 graduate of Interior Design and 1983 graduate of Architecture. Born in an Alabama sawmill town\, Bobby designed his first house at the age of five—and hasn”t stopped since. Architect\, romantic\, poet and entrepreneur\, he envisions home as a timeless\, graceful and emotionally evocative place. From the time he founded the firm in 1983\, he has realized this ideal in a diverse array of traditional styles and regional vernaculars for clients all over the country. Today known as McALPINE\, the firm now embraces a brilliant and eclectic family of professional architects and interior designers with offices in Alabama\, Tennessee\, Georgia\, and New York. Along with his furniture line\, Bobby is the author of The Home Within Us\, the critically acclaimed best-selling book from Rizzoli Publications\, and co-author of Art of the House. \n  \n4:00–5:00 pm Tours\, CADC Student Ambassadors \n  \n**Parking for the events at Dudley Hall is available at the Coliseum Lot without a permit. AU Parking Services will provide golf carts to shuttle attendees  from the lot to Dudley Hall from 9:30-11:30 and from Dudley back to the lot from 4:00-5:30. The golf carts will pick up and drop off on the Plainsman Park side of Donahue behind the right field fence.  That will allow them to traverse on the sidewalk behind Plainsman Park across Duncan and continue on Graves Drive to Dudley Hall to drop off and pick up the attendees. DESCRIPTION:Tim Warzecha “85 (Landscape Architecture) \nPrincipal Project Manager for Walt Disney Imagineering \n  \nThe College of Architecture\, Design and Construction is pleased to host a presentation by alumnus Tim Wazecha “85\, Principal Project Manager with Walt Disney Imagineering\, on Wednesday\, March 22 at 4:15 pm\, in Dudley Auditorium B6. \n  \nAuburn graduate Tim Warzecha ‘85 (Landscape Architecture)\, Principal Project Manager with Walt Disney Imagineering\, discusses the history of WDI and provides some insight into their unique creative and delivery process. His presentation\, “Making the Magic at Walt Disney Imagineering\,” will also provide some highlights of recently completed projects and address the Professional Intern Program and current job opportunities available with Walt Disney Imagineering. His presentation is free and to open to students and faculty. \n  \nAs Principal Project Manager with Walt Disney Imagineering. Warzecha has overall responsibility for the delivery of recent expansion projects the Disney”s Animal Kingdom Expansion Portfolio\, including Pandora—The World of Avatar. Recently completed projects included in this portfolio include the Riverside Deport merchandise location\, Tiffins Signature Dining Restaurant\, Festival of the Lion King Theater\, Harambe Market Quick Service Restaurant\, and the Rivers of Light nighttime show.  Warzecha began his career with Walt Disney Imagineering in 1998 where his primary focus was on the design and development of resort hotels and Disney Vacation Club.

His lecture\, “Aquaculture Landscapes: Multifunctional Fish Farms in the Public Realm\,” explores the design of historical and future productive landscapes where fish cultivation\, recreation\, conservation\, and waste management are enmeshed\, symbiotic relationships between flora and fauna are encouraged\, and where progressive public/private partnerships support sustainable and profitable enterprise.
