Walker\, an Assistant Professor of Architectural History at the College of Charleston\, specializes in the history of utopian cities and public space such as squares and streets in the United States and Europe. His lecture\, “The Parade of Progress: General Motors” Midcentury Campaign to Eliminate Walkable Communities in North America\,” is free and open to the public. The APLA lecture series is supported by practicing architects\, planners and landscape architects in the State of Alabama. \n  \nEvents are held in Dudley Hall\, Dudley Commons Parker Auditorium\, B6 and are free and open to the public.

The reunion activities will include a lecture by Jack Williams\, Emeritus Professor of Landscape Architecture\, on Friday\, April 14\, 2017. \nWilliams\, who was Professor and Chair of the Landscape Architecture and Urban Design program in the College of Architecture Design and Construction from 1992–2008\, will present “Miniatures of Abnegation—The idea of the American Small Town in Literature\, Images and Places\,” at 3:30 pm in Dudley B6 Auditorium. Afterwards\, he will be signing his book\, Easy On\, Easy Off: The Urban Pathology of American Small Towns (University of Virginia Press\, 2016)\, which received the J.B.
