SUMMARY:38th Design Interaction Takes Place on September 30\, 2016
DESCRIPTION:The 38th Design Interaction will be on Friday\, September 30\, 2016. The School of Industrial + Graphic Design”s annual celebration of design at Auburn will start at 8:30 a.m. in the Student Activities Center (behind the Wellness Center) in Room 104. Each year SIGD brings design professionals and students together to present and discuss each other”s work. This fall SIGD will welcome John Payne\, who is Managing Director of Moment in New York City\, and Ashleigh Axios\, former Creative Director for the White House in Washington DC. All events are free and open to the public. \n  \nA 1990 graduate of Auburn ‘s industrial design program\, John Payne is Managing Director at Moment\, a digital strategy and design consultancy that he co-founded in New York City. His work explores the positive contribution that interaction design can make to healthcare experiences\, with a focus on patient empowerment and participation and management of chronic disease. He will speak at 9:00 a.m. \n  \nAshleigh Axios is an international speaker\, strategic creative\, and an advocate for design”s ability to break barriers and create positive social change. She served as the creative director and a digital strategist at the While House\, where she led design from within the Office of Digital Strategy. Axios is on the National Board of Directors of the AIGA\, the professional association for design. Axios will speak at 10:00 a.m. \n  \n“This annual event is a long standing celebration of design at Auburn University\,” says Clark Lundell\, Head of the School of Industrial + Graphic Design. “Our students are exposed to the work of outstanding professionals such as John and Ashleigh who\, in turn\, evaluate and discuss student work currently being generated in the studios.” \n  \nDesign Interaction afternoon activities begin at noon with a cookout and gathering on Wallace Hall lawn. A SIGD Design Exhibition will be at 1:00 p.m.\, and Payne and Axios will make closing remarks at 2:30 p.m. in Wallace Hall\, Room 107.
