Affordable Housing Certificate Program

July 21 - July 25

Affordable housing is no longer just a public sector challenge — it’s a cross-disciplinary, market-driving movement demanding well-informed professionals from every corner of the industry. The Affordable Housing Professional Certificate Program, hosted by The Winchester Institute for Real Estate Development at Auburn University, is a five-day immersive training experience designed to equip professionals with the skills, strategies, and relationships to shape the next generation of equitable, resilient housing.

Held in the heart of downtown Birmingham, this program brings together a powerful lineup of experts from real estate finance, public housing, architecture, construction, and urban planning. Participants will take part in an intensive mix of lectures, real-world case studies, hands-on exercises, and team-based development projects that culminate in a capstone presentation before a mock Investment Committee.

Whether you’re a Housing Authority executive, a design professional, or a private developer, this program delivers insights into every stage of the affordable housing development lifecycle — from policy and financing to site selection, construction, and resident services.

What You’ll Gain:
•    Comprehensive understanding of LIHTC, RAD, and mixed-finance strategies.
•    Real-world knowledge of design, permitting, and construction in the affordable space.
•    Hands-on practice modeling deals, structuring capital stacks, and evaluating risk.
•    Direct access to experts in debt, equity, architecture, urban planning, and development.
•    A prestigious certificate from Auburn University that reflects your readiness to lead in the field.

Registration Fee:  $3500 (by July 1, 2025) $4000 (after that date)
