Elizabeth Lowrey, IIDA, RDI Principal and Director of Interior Architecture at Elkus Manfredi Architects received an Honorary Degree from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) at the Friday, May 24, 2019 Commencement.

Lowrey, a 1983 Auburn University graduate, has been responsible for the Boson-based firm’s interior architecture studio since its founding in 1988 and a part of the firm’s leadership since 2002. Her projects have included Walt Disney Imagineering, Citizens Bank, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Publicis Groupe, New Balance and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. MassArt has a legacy of leadership as the only freestanding public college of art and design in the country and the nation’s first art school to grant a degree.

Recently called a “designer of the future” by Boston Magazine, Lowrey was honored by MassArt for her contributions to the architecture and design industry. In her remarks to the MassArt graduates, Lowrey explained, “Each of you is entering a world that needs exactly what you’ve just mastered. And I don’t mean only the worlds of art and design, but also in business and nonprofit organizations across every industry…the skills you’ve already mastered at MassArt are exactly the skills valued by the world’s most influential business leaders.”
