Laptop Requirements

Incoming and Pre-Professional Students

Students entering the CADC should have access to a working laptop. Chromebooks and iPads are not suitable as primary devices. Most incoming students do not need to purchase a high-performance, program specific laptop immediately.

Laptop recommendations vary by program and are primarily intended for professional program students. We encourage students to wait to purchase a high-performance device until they are accepted into a professional program.

Exception: Pre-Architecture students who are purchasing a new laptop before admission to the professional program may use the optional Pre-Architecture recommendations below.

Computer Specs are updated annually.

The below recommendations focus on students who are currently enrolled in the professional programs in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. These specs are reviewed and updated annually on or before June 1.
