CADC Alumni Named to BBJ’s 2025 40 Under 40

Three alumni of Auburn’s College of Architecture, Design and Construction (CADC). have been named to the Birmingham Business Journal’s (BBJ) 2025 40 Under 40, recognizing emerging professionals making a significant impact on the city of Birmingham.
Jessica Hughes Bennett ’08 (Architecture)
As a partner at ArchitectureWorks, Jessica Hughes Bennett believes structures tell a story, preserving our history for future generations. Therefore, it’s little wonder that one of the highlights of her time at ArchitectureWorks has been working on Birmingham’s historic 16th Street Baptist Church, a project that reinforced her passion for architecture’s role in storytelling. Bennett credits her Auburn experience, including architecture history courses and a study abroad opportunity in Rome, as critical to her success today. Now, she’s helping shape the next generation of architects through mentorship. “We are fortunate to live in Alabama, which has great communities, and I love to be a part of showcasing our great state,” she shared. “Architecture is an important extension of our lives.
Jeff Jantz ’08 (Building Science)
For Jeff Jantz, operations manager at Brasfield & Gorrie, history has also played a key role in his journey. Studying abroad introduced him to architectural wonders like the Sagrada Família and the pyramids, moments that broadened his perspective on the built environment. Since joining Brasfield & Gorrie just weeks after graduation, Jantz has built a career in federal construction, managing projects ranging from courthouse facilities to cybersecurity buildings. In January, he was promoted to operations manager, where he now focuses on overseeing projects and keeping schedules on track. “I have had the chance to grow and see projects from different perspectives. I am honored to be named to BBJ’s 2025 40 under 40.”
Dane Pemberton ’10 (Building Science)
Dane Pemberton’s career has been shaped by a series of opportunities, each building on the last. An Auburn-sponsored event connected him with BL Harbert International, where he handed an internship that turned into a decade-long career. Over the years, he held a variety of roles—from onsite construction manager to client solutions management, even working on campus projects such as Neville Arena. Now, as vice president at CBI Construction Services, Pemberton focuses on process and systems improvement, helping drive organizational change that strengthens both efficiency and client relationships. “This is relationship-focused work, and I continue to learn every day,” he stated.
