Upon graduation, Mathews aims to specialize in Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), focus primarily on 3D modeling and construction logistics.

As a student, Mathews has been actively engaged in various college organizations and efforts, including the College of Architecture, Design and Construction (CADC) Ambassadors, the Auburn chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) and the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) competition teams. Notably, his team secured the top spot in ASC’s Region 2 design-build competition in November 2023. Mathews also dedicates his time as a student worker for BSCI Information Technology (IT), where he provides support and assistance to faculty and students daily.

A pivotal moment in his journey occurred in October 2023 when he embarked on a life-changing Service Learning study abroad experience in Quito, Ecuador. Engaged in construction projects within the local community, Mathews gained invaluable hands-on experience while immersing himself in the vibrant culture of Ecuador.

“Being immersed in the culture, seeing everything, was incredible, from the 300-foot-tall churches to the Coriolis effect of water at the Equator,” he said.
