Nancy Juneau, Chief Executive Officer of Juneau Construction Company and a longtime supporter of the McWhorter School of Building Science (BSCI), has been elected to the National Academy of Construction (NAC) Class of 2026.

Juneau is among 45 construction industry leaders elected to the academy this year. Founded in 1999, the NAC recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the construction industry and provides opportunities for its members to advance the profession and develop future industry leaders.

For Juneau, the recognition came as a surprise.

“I was really blown away and humbled,” Juneau said. “I look at the peers and can’t even believe I’m a part of this group.”

With more than 40 years of experience in construction and nearly 30 years of leading Juneau Construction Company alongside her husband, Les, Juneau has built a company that emphasizes employee growth and innovation. She said one of her greatest sources of pride is watching employees develop both personally and professionally and find the areas of construction where they can thrive.

“We’ve always been the kind of company that says to our employees, ‘we want you to experience things that you’re proud of, you excel at and you love’,” she said.

That philosophy has also shaped Juneau’s advocacy for women in construction and her involvement with BSCI. Though she is not an Auburn graduate, Juneau is a member of the School’s Industry Executive Board, providing industry perspective on curriculum and initiatives to prepare students for their careers.

“The board has helped me learn about the caliber of students and the mechanics of supporting them,” she said. “It’s been great to sit around the table and look deep into how Auburn’s construction program can form the next generation of builders.”

Juneau Construction has also developed a strong recruiting relationship with Auburn, hosting three to five interns each summer who work with multiple BSCI alumni who hold full-time positions in the company. Juneau said she has been impressed by the students’ work ethic, grit and willingness to learn, travel and pursue different areas of the industry.

As she looks toward the future, Juneau hopes construction professionals will embrace emerging technologies while maintaining the creativity and expertise that define the profession.

“We want technology to be used to augment them to be better builders,” she said. “Not to take the place of them being better builders.”

The 2026 class was inducted into the NAC during the organization’s meeting in Nashville, Tennessee in September.
