BSCI Alum Brings 3 Decades of Experience to the Classroom
Scott Reynolds’ career has come full circle—back to the campus where it all began.

A 1992 graduate of the McWhorter School of Building Science (BSCI), Reynolds returned to Auburn in 2023 as adjunct faculty, bringing more than three decades of industry experience into the classroom.
Reynolds teaches Communications in Construction, a course that aligns closely with his professional background. After over 34 years in the construction industry, including 28 years with Catamount Constructors, he sees the classroom as an opportunity to bridge theory and practice.
“I try and bring some real-world examples to all of our daily lectures and classes,” Reynolds said. “I find that the students engage and enjoy the real examples that happen in the world of construction.”
Being back at Auburn has been especially rewarding. Reynolds says he’s consistently impressed by the caliber of today’s BSCI students.

“I am amazed with the high quality of students we have and their commitment to bettering themselves and their dedication to continuous learning in the professional program,” he said.
That enthusiasm mirrors what he experienced as a student himself, when Auburn’s hands-on, practical approach to construction helped prepare him for a demanding and dynamic career.
In addition to teaching, Reynolds currently serves as president of Catamount Constructors’ Industrial Group, a role he has held for 20 years. The nationwide general contractor with offices in Denver, Atlanta, San Antonio, Savannah and Tampa, works across industrial, healthcare, senior living, build-to-rent, retail and commercial sectors. In 2025 alone, the company completed $1.1 billion in projects. Among its most notable accomplishments are more than 200 Amazon distribution facilities built across the country over the past decade. In 2017, Catamount became a 100% employee-owned company, reflecting its core mission to be a best-in-class organization known for developing leaders at every level.
Since Reynolds’ return to Auburn, Catamount has expanded its involvement with the BSCI program, hiring seven interns and two full-time Auburn graduates. That connection underscores Reynolds’ belief in Auburn’s ability to develop both technical expertise and leadership skills—qualities he credits to his own involvement as a student leader in organizations such as Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, Student Government Association, Omicron Delta Kappa and Order of Omega.
Looking ahead, Reynolds continues to lead strategic initiatives at Catamount while staying engaged on campus and in the community, coaching the Auburn Junior High Wrestling Team and serving as the Chapter Counselor for the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity—proof that his commitment to mentorship extends well beyond the job site.
