Auburn University's School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture welcomes new Assistant Professor Cait McCarthy!

McCarthy holds a Master of Architecture from Cornell University and a bachelor’s in architecture from Northeastern University.

Through her research, teaching and practice, McCarthy explores how new and innovative techniques—whether analog, digital or  material—can simultaneously illuminate contemporary challenges and provide unexpected experiences.

Prior to joining Auburn’s faculty, McCarthy taught at the Syracuse University School of Architecture and the Cornell University College of Architecture, Art and Planning.

McCarthy is co-founder of office office, an award-winning design-research practice that, by working across various scales, seeks to defamiliarize everyday objects, materials and spaces. The practice rethinks traditional architectural production methods to discover new design approaches. Before establishing office office, McCarthy practiced at OMA and KPF, both based in New York City, as well as Neil M. Denari Architects, based in Los Angeles.

“I’m excited to be at Auburn,” McCarthy stated, “to contribute to and learn from the intense culture of making through hands-on experiences and collaborations with both faculty and students.”
