Alabama Workshop[s] Toolkit Selected for Communication Arts Magazine Design Annual
Alabama Workshop[s] Toolkit created by Robert Finkel, Associate Professor of Graphic Design in the School of Industrial + Graphic Design, and Sheri Schumacher, Associate Professor Emerita in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, is a winner in Communication Arts Magazine 58th Design Annual Competition. Of the 3,877 entries to the 58th Design Annual, only 151 winning projects were accepted, making the Design Annual one of the most exclusive major design competitions in the world. The selected projects will be reproduced in the September/October 2017 issue of Communications Arts, a professional journal for those involved in creativity in visual communications.
Created for artisans and workshop participants, the Alabama Workshop[s] Toolkit provides insight into how craft artisans in Alabama conduct workshops. This network of workshops promotes cultural craft heritage, innovative cottage industries and exemplary handmade works across rural and urban communities. The regionally and nationally recognized artisans featured in the guide work with a range of materials, including textiles, stone, metal, glass, clay and found objects.
