Ross Heck is Professor Emeritus of Graphic Design in the Auburn University School of Industrial and Graphic Design. He has received awards for graphic design related projects in publication design, corporate identity, display design and logo design in various design competitions, such as Print Regional Annual, Case Awards, APEX awards (Awards for Publication Excellence) and ACE awards (Association for Communication Excellence). He also served as the graphic design area coordinator, AIGA student adviser, and as the departmental academic advisor for the Department of Art.

Professor Heck has practiced graphic design for almost 4 decades. His design projects have been for clients such as: Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES), Auburn University, The Shareholder Magazine, Auburn Engineers, Inc., DuPont, Inc., Mobile Oil, Inc., Sonoco Products, Inc., DesignAlabama, Inc., Alabama Arts Online, Owl Bay Publishers, Southware, Inc., Design Sketches, Union Carbide, Food Marketing Institute in Washington D.C., National Forum.

Professor Heck currently teaches GDES 1210 freshman 2-D design, GDES 2210 sophomore-level production processes, GDES 3220 photocommunication/experimental photography techniques, as well as, GDES 4250 senior-level large format design and publication design.

Professor Heck also teaches ENVD 2010.
