Garmaz Named SEC Academic Leadership Development Fellow

Magdalena Garmaz, Environmental Design Program Chair and Ann and Batey Gresham Professor of Architecture, has been named a 2015–2016 SEC Academic Leadership Development Program Fellow. As an SEC ALDP Fellow, she is one of three Auburn faculty members who will represent Auburn University in the 2015-2016 Southeastern Conference Academic Leadership Development Program.

The SEC Academic Leadership Development Program seeks to identify, prepare, and advance academic leaders for roles within Southeastern Conference institutions and beyond. Garmaz, along with Daniel Givens, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, College of Veterinary Medicine, and Stanley Harris, Associate Dean for graduate and international Programs, will take part in a university-level development program and visit other SEC institutions for two, three-day workshops during the 2015–2016 academic year.

“I’m excited to learn more about SEC institutions,” says Garmaz. “At the same time, I’m pleased to be able to promote the values of the CADC in our region.”

Fifty faculty and administrators from Southeastern Conference universities including the three from Auburn will take part in this year-long professional development program. Garmaz joins other SEC ALDP Fellows from CADC who include David Hinson (2012–2013), Richard Burt (2013–2014), and Bret Smith (2014–2015).
