Three Auburn Architecture Alumni Elevated to AIA College of Fellows

Three Auburn alumni were among the 149 elevated to the American Institute of Architects prestigious 2016 College of Fellows: Larry S. Cash (Chapter: AIA Alaska, Firm: RIM Architects); Paula Burns McEvoy (Chapter: AIA Atlanta, Firm: Perkins+Will); and C. Al York (Chapter: AIA Austin, Firm: McKinney York Architects). Elevation to Fellow is an honor bestowed selectively upon AIA members who have made significant contributions over time to the profession, to their local communities and to society on a national level. The selection process is rigorous, and represents the highest honor the AIA can confer upon an individual licensed-architect member. The 2016 AIA Fellows from around the country were honored at an investiture ceremony at the AIA Convention in Philadelphia in May.

Larry Cash, FAIA NCARB, is President and CEO of RIM Architects in Anchorage, Alaska. He received a Bachelor of Architecture with Honors from Auburn in 1973. He founded RIM Architects in 1986, which now has offices in San Francisco, Honolulu, and Hagatna, Gaum. For more, click here.

Paula McEvoy, FAIA, LEED Fellow, LEED Faculty, is Co-director of Perkins+Will’s firm-wide Sustainable Design Initiative. She coordinates sustainability efforts across the international firm’s offices, teaches sustainable design workshops and speaks frequently on sustainable construction, business practices and visioning. Al York, FAIA, is principal of Austin-based McKinney York Architects. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn in 1988 magna cum laude. He went on to earn a Master of Architecture degree from Cornell University. McKinney York Architects is an award-winning firm in Austin, known for both its commercial and residential commissions.
