Devin Moore, a 1983 graduate of Auburn’s School of Industrial and Graphic Design (SIGD), describes his design philosophy as being “at the intersection of the physical and digital, helping companies develop products that people love.”

“Always curious, my approach is as an expert generalist,” he said. “As a designer, I believe good design isn’t a signature style, and the best designs, in addition to communicating use and brand, inspire not just the user, but all stakeholders. As a design leader/manager, I believe in nurturing with consistency and stability and I advocate running with scissors.”

Currently based in Los Angeles, California, Moore has been “running with scissors” since his graduation from SIGD, first for 25 years after founding his first agency—Big Design/Big Bang—and now with his more recent firm, Superheavy, founded in 2019.

At Big Design/Big Bang, he worked with large corporate clients such as Intel, Cuisinart, Pitney-Bowes and Coca Cola, providing strategic and creative guidance on product and marketing initiatives. At Superheavy, he collaborates with agencies and industry, providing expertise and application in the areas of industrial design, user experience and project management, marketing and strategy. He has also developed several proprietary innovation and brand platforms, including “Idea Farm” and “XBL (Experiential Brand Language).”

Over his more than 40-year career, Moore has helped develop 656 new products and applied for 107 patents. His work has been recognized with a number of IDEA Awards, an IDA Design Award, Medical Design Excellence Awards and ID Magazine Awards.

He has also served as a lecturer and instructor at the Georgia Institute of Technology and lectured at the Savannah College of Art and Design and Auburn University in addition to meetings of the Industrial Designers Society of America, the Product Development and Management Association, and the International Home+Housewares Show.
