Architecture Faculty Honored by AIA Montgomery

Single family residence 'Villabrut' by Matt Hall

Matt Hall, Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Architecture in Auburn’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, has been recognized with a 2023 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Merit Award by the Montgomery Chapter of AIA.

The project, a single family residence, was honored in the Small Projects category.

“Occupied in 2019, but never truly finished, my own residence and office dubbed ‘Villabrut’ embodies the aesthetic of continuous construction,” Hall shared. “The jurors noted the attention paid down to the last detail as a rare exploit in current architectural production.”

Each year, AIA Montgomery recognizes members for excellence in architectural design work in an effort to elevate the quality of architecture in the region and establish a continually progressive standard of excellence. The chapter, established in 1965, represents more than 25 counties within the state of Alabama.
