Spring 2023: King’s Mobile Estates
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn partners with the East Alabama Food Bank for a monthly food distribution at King’s Mobile Estates, a food-insecure neighborhood in Opelika. Holy Trinity wanted a pavilion to shield food distributions from sun and rain and could also be used for Vacation Bible School, medical clinics and residents’ family gatherings. In the fall, students built a 20’ x 30’ timber framed pavilion in the fall semester. The team in the spring then formed and poured the 35’ x 40’ concrete slab which included a perimeter footing with rebar, wire mesh and expansion joints.
