BSCI Alumni Named to AGC’s 2022 40 Under 40

AGC 40 Under 40 in Construction

The Alabama Associated General Contractors (AGC) recently released its annual list of 40 of the top industry professionals under the age of 40. This “40 Under 40” list frequently features alumni of the McWhorter School of Building Science. The AU alumni listed below are just a few of the brightest rising stars in the building construction industry in Alabama.


Wes Bowlin

Position: Project Manager at Brasfield & Gorrie in Columbus, GA
Education: Bachelor of Science in Building Construction, Auburn University, 2012

Wes Bowlin has been involved in a large array of multi-million-dollar projects such as commercial office buildings, hotels, data centers, medical facilities, amusement parks, multi-use developments, and higher education facilities. Most familiar to Auburn University,  Bowlin was the project manager for the Brown-Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center. He also served as Construction Manager for the Academic Classroom and Laboratory Complex (ACLC), Central Dining Hall, and the brand new Football Performance Center. Familiar to the Auburn area, Bowlin was project manager for the recently completed AUBix Data Center. He also has his LEED AP BD+C designation.

Bowlin currently lives in Auburn and is involved in the community in many ways. He serves on Auburn High School’s Building Construction Program Advisory Committee and is involved in the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and Auburn Young Professionals. He is a member of the Lee County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and serves on Church of the Highlands’ Disaster Relief team & Skilled Projects team.


Grant Davis '16

Grant Davis

Position: Senior Project Manager at Doster Construction in Birmingham, AL
Education: Bachelor of Science in Building Construction, Auburn University, 2016

Grant Davis currently serves on the AGC Construction Leadership Council Steering Committee. In his role at Doster Construction, he serves on the training committee, recruiting committee, and business development team. Grant has worked in Doster’s commercial, industrial, multifamily, educational, and healthcare construction divisions during his tenure at the company. In his six years at Doster Construction, he has managed projects with a combined worth of $218 million dollars.


Michael Garber

Position: Vice President of Construction Management Services for Fite Building Company
Education: Bachelor of Science in Building Construction, Auburn University, 2010

Michael Garber has 16 years of construction experience with a focus on higher education, stadium construction, and solar. He leads the Construction Management group and manages all site-specific aspects of each project. He works directly with the owner and engineers ensuring all budget and schedule constraints are met. Garber is currently working on the Alabama Graphite Products project in Kellyton, Alabama, a $200 million project that includes three Auburn graduates. Other projects Garber has worked on include the BJCC Stadium in Birmingham, AL, the Harbert Recruiting Center at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Auburn’s campus, the Barber Motorsports Park Museum Expansion in Birmingham, the Science and Engineering Complex on the campus of the University of North Alabama in Florence, AL, and a two-story addition to the School of Health Professionals building at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Garber also owns the Tiger Prowler, an iconic orange and navy tiger striped bus that is a mainstay of the tailgating scene at the hayfield lot on Auburn’s campus during football gamedays.


Ben Sims

Position: Vice President of Project Management for Bailey-Harris Construction Co., Inc.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Building Construction, Auburn University, 2008

Ben Sims has more than 13 years of experience in Project Management and has managed General Construction, Construction Management and Design Build projects. As Vice President of Project Management, Ben provides leadership, oversight, and support to the company’s Project Management staff across all active projects. Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his wife, 4 kids and 2 dogs. He is also an active member of his church and chairs the men’s ministry. Some of the projects Sims has worked on include the RSA Judicial Building, Trinity Presbyterian Church, Briggs and Stratton and several projects on Auburn University’s campus including the Wellness Kitchen, Equine Science Facility, pharmacy and nursing buildings and the Harbert Recruiting Center and locker room renovations at Jordan-Hare Stadium.


William Woo '08

William Woo

Position: Senior Project Manager at Marathon Electrical Contractors
Education: Bachelor of Science in Building Construction, Auburn University, 2008

William Woo has been with Marathon for 9 years, where he has managed several large healthcare projects, including Grandview Medical Center, University of Mississippi Medical Center Children’s Hospital in Jackson, MS, Holly Hill Behavioral Health in Raleigh, NC, and Old Vineyard Behavioral Health in Winston-Salem, NC. He is currently managing the new Medical West Hospital for the University of Alabama Birmingham, located in McCalla, AL.
