Industrial Design Student-Athlete Named to SEC Honor Roll
Lior Berman, a junior industrial design major and student-athlete in the School of Industrial and Graphic Design, has been named to the 2021-22 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll.
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Berman plays guard on Auburn’s men’s basketball team. With this most recent academic achievement, he is now a two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll awardee. He was also on the 2021 NABC Honors Court and was named to the 2019-20 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll. This past season, he played in 20 games for the Tigers, averaging two points and 0.7 rebounds per game. He had a career high eight points against Nebraska on December 11 and scored a crucial three pointer in a comeback over St. Louis on December 18.
Assistant Professor Joyce Thomas said that Berman’s tremendous work ethic helps him to balance basketball team responsibilities with his design education. “It’s not an easy task, working toward those 10,000 hours in each to become an expert in both,” she explained. “But he has the desire to accomplish both. Sometimes deliverable dates in my class conflicted with the basketball schedule, but Lior finished out all of the course requirements in good time and in excellent form. I am very proud of him!”
