The School of Industrial + Graphic Design will host its 36th Annual Design Interaction Symposium on Friday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at Wallace Hall. Each year SIGD brings design professionals and students together to present and discuss each other’s work. This year’s speakers are Courtney Garvin of Son&Sons and Tim Lindsey of Xaviant.
Courtney Garvin, Senior Designer at the branding firm, Son&Sons in Atlanta, GA, will speak at 9:30 a.m. in Wallace Hall 107 and 111. Since 2000, Garvin’s work has spanned all aspects of design, and her projects have included corporate communications, publications, branding, environmental, exhibit, packaging, multimedia, web, and interface design. At Son&Sons, her clients have included the Coca-Cola Company, FedEx, and the Walt Disney Company.
Tim Lindsey, an Auburn Industrial Design alumnus with 17 years’ experience in video game design, is Design Director at the video game studio Xaviant. He has worked as an environmental artist, technical artist, level designer, game designer, and director for several renowned game studios, and his most notable work was on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. As Design Director at Xaviant, Lindsey is responsible for creating the Lichdom: Battlemage vision. He will speak at 10:45 a.m. in Wallace 107 and 111.
“This annual event is a long-standing celebration of design at Auburn University,” says Clark Lundell, Head of the School of Industrial + Graphic Design. “Our students are exposed to the work of these professionals, and Courtney and Tim have the opportunity to evaluate and discuss student work currently being generated in the studios.”
A cookout on Wallace Hall’s lawn will follow the speakers at 12:30 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
