Rural Studio is an Undergraduate Program of the School of Architecture at Auburn University. It is not the professional practice of Samuel Mockbee or Andrew Freear.
Rural Studio is committed to our place and people: our neighbors. We have been in Hale County, West Alabama for nearly two decades and we take responsibility for the work we do: both successful and unsuccessful. We preach the sustainability of materials, program, and details.
Every project you see on this website is designed and built by students 18-24 years old and is paid for by donations and grants from someone like you.
We hope the Rural Studio offers a positive critique of how we teach, procure, and make architecture.
