 CADC Research and Creative Work

patel research and c work.jpgThe College of Architecture, Design and Construction values faculty scholarly production in research, creative work, outreach scholarship and teaching scholarship. As a college with professional programs, the CADC encourages faculty to pursue research and creative work in order to advance, to support and to lead our related professions and disciplines while contributing to the land grant mission of Auburn University. The CADC research enterprise complements the academic enterprise and often includes opportunities for graduate research and undergraduate research.

The range of faculty pursuits includes traditional funded research and a wide variety of non-funded scholarship and creative activity. CADC faculty are associated with a strong history of research and creative work related to teaching in the areas of service learning, outreach, representation, and beginning design. The research enterprise at CADC continues to build on this success and has experienced dynamic growth in the past five years in the research/creative work areas of architecture, building science, community planning, integrated design & construction, graphic design, industrial design, and landscape architecture. The new Master of Real Estate Development program is a joint program with the College of Business and is an opportunity for future research opportunities and collaborations.

A strong emphasis on the topic of collaboration extends across the disciplines in the CADC with current collaborative projects naturally occurring around professional practice and topics of sustainability in design, construction and planning.

CADC faculty members are active collaborators with colleagues across campus, in the community and with other external to Auburn constituents. Please see the research areas of interest by faculty and by discipline to learn more about CADC faculty expertise and to assess the potential for future collaborations.

A competitive seed grant program through the Office of the Dean provides yearly opportunities for faculty to apply for small grants to initiate new research endeavors and to provide match funding for the Auburn Intramural Grants Program.
