Architecture Students Elected to AIAS National Board of Directors
Auburn Architecture students Sarah Curry and Kyra Stark have been selected to serve on the AIAS 2019-2020 national board of directors. The American Institute of Architecture Students is a non-profit organization whose aim is to provide programming, information, and resources for students of Architecture across the country. Sarah Curry, having previously served as the South Quad Director, was elected President of the national, student-led organization. Kyra Stark took over as the new South Quad Director.
“This school has considered the connection we have with the American Institute of Architecture Students to be one of our most important associations at both the local and national levels,” says Christian Dagg, Head of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture. “We are home to the largest chapter of the AIAS in the United States, so being the president of this chapter is in many ways excellent preparation for stepping up into a national role. Working closely with the leadership of the AIAS is one of my responsibilities that I find consistently rewarding, whether the students are working on Pumpkin Carve or one of their mentorship activities. Because Sarah and Kyra have been such outstanding chapter presidents, I am not surprised that they were elected to these national roles on the board of directors.”
This marks only the second time in AIAS history that both a Quad Director and the National President have come from the same institution (a previous occurrence was with two representatives from Carnegie Mellon in 2003).
