Will Givens Serves as Fall ’18 CADC Graduation Marshal

Meet Will Givens, the Fall 2018 Graduation Marshal for the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. A graduate of Graphic Design, Will plans on working for a design firm with an emphasis on conceptual development and structural typography.

During his time as a student, Will came to develop his own approach to design, calling it “foundationally communicative.” “All design says something, even those decisions made by default. Therefore, design is in the details, the consideration of every decision,” he writes. An admitted perfectionist, he recalls times when it was made apparent that the Graphic Design program values “the growth of its students over their perfect performance.”

Will’s work garnered much attention; he was featured as a “2018 student to watch” by GDUSA, and most recently was selected as a winner in the highly competitive Communication Arts 9th Annual Typography Competition. His Planets poster will appear in the Communication Arts Typography Annual in the coming weeks.
