CADC Hosts 2016 Annual Awards Banquet

The College of Architecture, Design and Construction celebrated the accomplishments of faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends at the Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, October 20, at the Hotel at Auburn University. Special guests included Jane DiFolco Parker, Vice President for Development and President, Auburn University Foundation and Bill Parker; Dr. John Liu, Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Research and his wife Dongya Gao; Dr. Gregg Newschwander, Witt Professor and Dean of the School Nursing; Jim Carroll, Auburn University Architect, and Kathleen Carroll; and the CADC Executive Board.

Highlights of the evening included the special recognition of David Hinson, the CADC Distinguished Alumnus Award to Hal Goyette ’50, and a performance from the AU Singers.

The CADC Outstanding Staff Award was a tie this year. Vini Nathan, Dean and McWhorter Endowed Chair in the CADC, presented the Outstanding Staff Award to Steve Wall, IT Specialist, and Mellissa Watson, CADC’s Dean’s Office Executive Support Assistant for their service above and beyond the call of duty.

The Student Leadership Award was presented to Katie Bobo in recognition of her excellent participation in the various organizations.

Ben Farrow, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and International Programs, presented the Outstanding Undergraduate Student Awards to:

The School of Industrial and Graphic Design presented its Outstanding Teaching Award to Kelly Bryant and its Distinguished Service Award to Angela Stiff.

The McWhorter School of Building Science presented its Outstanding Teaching Award to Eric Wetzel and its Distinguished Service Award to Trey Clegg.

The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture presented its Outstanding Teaching Award to Matt Hall and its Distinguished Service Award to Stephen Schrader.
