CADC Students Create Outstanding ePortfolios

Five College of Architecture, Design and Construction Students were among the thirteen finalists in the Auburn University Outstanding ePortfolio competition. Timothy Fuerst, a rising fifth-year architecture/interior architecture student in the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, received First Prize from Provost Timothy Boosinger at the second annual ePortfolio Award Luncheon in May that recognized work the exceptional work of the thirteen finalists. The ePortfolios were judged on effective communication, critical thinking through reflection, technical competency, and visual literacy. Finalists were nominated by faculty or peers, and their ePortfolios were reviewed by a committee made of faculty and students.

The Awards Subcommittee noted that Fuerst’s ePortfolio “carefully integrates aesthetic elements with professional written explanations, creating an engaging experience for his audience. He demonstrates the connections between his double major in architecture and interior architecture and the way his various experiences have shaped him as a designer.” To view Fuerst’s ePortfolio, click here

David Hinson, Head of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture, nominated Fuerst for the Outstanding ePortfolio Award. As Hinson explains, “Portfolios are an essential tool for all our students as they enter the job market, and our faculty and alumni invest a lot of effort in helping our students learn how to present their work in a professional way. Timothy and George Criminale both earned awards in our APLA Portfolio Design Competition, and it is great to see Timothy earn campus-wide recognition from the AU ePorfolio awards program.”

Kristen Harlin, a rising senior in Graphic Design in the School of Industrial + Graphic Design, was one of two students receiving Honorable Mention for “presenting clear and thorough ePortfolios that highlight their experiences, both educational and professional.” View her ePortfolio here
