APLA 2017–2018 Speaker Series: | in between | Jennifer Feltman

The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architectures 2017–2018 Lecture Series, | in between |, welcomes Jennifer M. Feltman on Monday, November 13, for this semester’s final lecture. Feltman is an assistant professor of medieval art and architecture in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. Her research focuses on the way in which works of medieval art, whether architecture, sculpture, or manuscripts intersect with aspects of culture, such as intellectual history, religious practice and political discourse. She is co-editor of The Long Lives of Medieval Art and Architecture, which is forthcoming from Routledge. Her lecture, “The Form of Gothic: Geometry in Design and Construction,” will be in Dudley B6 auditorium and is free and open to the public. The APLA lecture series is supported by practicing architects, planners and landscape architects in the State of Alabama. For more about the APLA lecture series, click here.

29th Annual Pumpkin Carve
Dudley Courtyard
The Auburn University Chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is excited to be hosting its twenty-ninth annual Pumpkin Carve. Pumpkin Carve began as a studio project and has now turned into one of the most celebrated events within the School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture here at Auburn University. The event is one of the largest fundraisers of the year and allows AIAS to provide other activities for the architecture students and community.
On the day of the event, the AIAS invites all students within the University as well as alumni and community members of all ages to gather in the courtyard of Dudley Hall to carve pumpkins. Judges, invited from the local community and the college, select the best pumpkins and award prizes donated from local businesses. Pumpkin Carve is a much anticipated event and is enjoyed by the students, the faculty, and the community.

All Day Events
- Costume Contest: College students, kids, faculty, and visitors are encouraged to come carve a pumpkin in their Halloween costumes. Upon arrival, costume contest participants can take a picture in front of a designed wall. All the photos will be judged and winners will be announced at 7 p.m. *Winners must be present to receive prize*
- Aubie: Aubie will be in attendance at various times throughout the day.
- Refreshments: Though hot dogs and hamburgers will be served at lunch, CADC Organizations will be selling snacks, treats, and beverages all day long
- Parking: After 5 p.m., visitors can park in the South Quad Parking Deck, on Lem Morrison Dr. and on Duncan Dr.
