Designing Green 2016

Designing Green 2016

Designing Green is an annual event hosted by the School of Industrial + Graphic Design that focuses on sustainable design awareness and practice. This year, Auburn’s Industrial Design program is teaming up with designer and inventor Dirk Vander Kooji, Eastman Innovation Lab and Autodesk for the 2016 Designing Green Competition, and students from the IDSA South District Conference schools have been invited to compete. Their challenge is to design a piece of furniture or other interior décor item that uses the unique, large scale capabilities of Dirk Vander Kooji’s Endless 3D printer.

Designing Green lectures begin at 9:00 a.m. on April 15, 2016, in the Student Activities Center, room 104. Bryan Shackelford, IDSA, of Eastman Innovation Lab will lecture at 9:00 a.m., and Dirk Vander Kooji will Skype from the Netherlands at 10:00. A cookout on Wallace Hall lawn will be at noon, and Jeff Smith, IDSA, will host a workshop on Autodesk at 1:00 p.m. in 107 Wallace Hall.
