School of Industrial + Graphic Design

Design Interaction

The 39th Design Interaction will be on Friday, September 15, 2017. The School of Industrial + Graphic Design’s annual celebration of design at Auburn will start at 9:00 am in the Student Activities Center (behind the Wellness Center) in room 104. Each year SIGD brings design professionals and students together to present and discuss each other’s work. This fall SIGD will welcome José Reyes, Metaleap Creative, and John Anastasiadis, Johnson & Johnson.

José Reyes is Principal and Creative Director of Metaleap Creative in Atlanta, GA. He has worked at a designer at several major advertising firms in the South. He founded Metaleap in 2002. Metaleap designs brand campaigns, publications, and specialty products for Fortune 500s, national magazines, and non-profits.

John Anastasiadis is Senior Manager of Industrial Design & Human Factors for Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices. He leads IDHF activities at DePuy Synthes Trauma, for both the United States and Switzerland-based locations. In addition, he leads the Ethicon Wound Closure and Biosurgery IDHF team based in Somerville, NJ. Many of his designs have gone on to earn design and utility patents.

Design Interaction afternoon activities begin at noon with a cookout and gathering on Wallace Hall lawn. Tours of industrial and graphic design studios will begin at 1:30 pm, starting in Wallace Hall room 107.  Reyes and Anastasiadis will make closing remarks at 2:30 pm in Wallace Hall, Room 107.

“This annual event is a long standing celebration of design at Auburn University,” says Clark Lundell, Head of the School of Industrial + Graphic Design. “Our students are exposed to the work of outstanding professionals such as José and John who, in turn, evaluate and discuss student work currently being generated in the studios.” All events are free and open to the public.
