One of the oldest programs in the nation, Industrial Design's graduate and undergraduate programs are ranked in the top ten degree programs nationally by DesignIntelligence. HOW Magazine, a highly respected graphic design publication, includes SIGD's Graphic Design Program in its list of top design education programs in the country.
The School of Industrial + Graphic Design offers the only NASAD-accredited programs in Alabama. Industrial Design is known for product innovation, point of purchase design, commercial environments, and branding. Graphic Design prepares students to practice visual communication in a global environment, while emphasizing fine arts, digital interface, packaging, editorial, and identity development.
SIGD is well known for its industry-sponsored collaborations that offer SIGD students the opportunity to work with corporate clients on applied projects. Industry professionals collaborate with SIGD students in studio experiences that replicate the true relationship between a product design team and manufacturer.
Industrial and graphic design students experience different and diverse cultures through international travel opportunities that include sharing studios and workshops at colleges and universities in Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, and in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
