Two alumni from the College of Architecture, Design and Construction are among the four who have been inducted into the 2013 Alabama Construction Hall of Fame. Jamie Aycock, 1973 Architecture alumnus, and William A. Hunt, a 1955 Building Construction graduate, were inducted into the Alabama Construction Hall of Fame during the Alabama AGC BuildSouth Awards Banquet on January 11 at The Club. The Alabama Association of General Contractors (AGC) established the Alabama Construction Hall of Fame to honor and recognize outstanding individuals in the construction industry—quite literally those who have changed the landscape of Alabama and the nation as a whole.

Jamie Aycock is the senior principal of Giattina Aycock Architectural Studio in Birmingham. He has been with the company for more that thirty-five years and has been involved with practically every project that has been design during the time period. During his career, Aycock has been a tireless proponent of improving the profession of architecture. He has held every office of the local, state, and regional components of AIA, served on the National AIA Board of Directors, served as guest lecturer, critic, and has championed the health, safety, and welfare of the built environment in the legislative arena.

William A. Hunt founded Gulf-Atlantic Constructors in 1972. He has been a firm believer in the AGC since the beginning of his career, serving as national life director. He has served on the boards for the chamber of commerce, Baptist Hospital Health Care and Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church. Hunt received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the McWhorter School of Building Science in 2002.

Alabama Construction Hall of Fame inductees must have served the Alabama Construction industry—as a general contractor, a specialty contractor or supplier, an architect, or as an engineer—for at least twenty-five years to be eligible for the hall of fame. Hall of fame candidates are held in esteem by their peers and have demonstrated their professionalism through active support of the industry and through their civic community involvement.
