"Beyond the Groundwork" Recognized by IDEC

Jan 25th, 2014

Assistant Professor Kevin Moore won "Best Creative Scholarship" for his submission to the IDEC (Interior Design Educators Council) South Regional Conference 2013. Moore presented Beyond the Groundwork at the regional conference on October 25-26, 2013 in Peachtree City, GA. In keeping with the conference theme, "Collaborate to Innovate!," Beyond the Groundwork is truly collaborative--an alumni exhibit designed and installed by Moore and Amanda (Herron) Loper (BArch 2005). Mounted by the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at the Jule Collins Smith Museum in February 2011, the exhibit and online gallery featured over 70 boards of professional work and a dozen pieces of art by alumni. Moore and Loper developed a system of self-supporting panels with a pixelated pattern of routed holes. The panels defined intimate pockets of space in a grand hall while instigating uncanny visual connections between the work and other visitors.
