Behzad Nakhjavan is a professor at Auburn University where he teaches design, history, and theory. He has practiced for the past 35 years in US and UK including working for HoK/ London office. His teaching and critical practice focuses on searching for forms with durability in both memory and experience. Issues of Craft, Sustainable materials, and Ecology are at the forefront of that search. His practice has received 5 state and regional AIA awards of Excellence for Design. He holds a M. Arch degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a B. Arch from Mississippi State University. He has been a visiting professor at Vicenza center for Architecture in Italy, University of Arkansas school of architecture, Washington University, Sam Fox School of Visual Design in St. Louis, and Visiting scholar/Artist at the American Academy in Rome in 2013.
